Roger Linn Boike, 81, of West Des Moines, IA passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at the Methodist West Hospital in West Des Moines, IA.
Following Roger’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded and his family will be hosting a celebration of life at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Melrose Cemetery near Ivester. Pastor Mary Stonebraker will be officiating the graveside service for Roger. The family would like to invite everyone over to Margie Button’s house immediately following the graveside service for a time of fellowship and refreshments. Roger Linn Boike was born on January 23, 1940 in Springfield, IL, the son of Miles and Jean (Kensinger) Boike. He was raised and educated in the Hardin county school district, where he graduated from Whitten High School. Following high school, Roger honorable served his Country by enlisting in the Iowa National Guard. From June 6, 1962 until his honorable discharge on January 10, 1965, he was based in Marshalltown, Iowa. Roger was united in marriage to Sharon (Poppe) Dempsey but the two later divorced. Roger than married Patricia (Faber) until she passed away in 2013.
Roger was a very hardworking man dedicating 56 years to Lennox Industries in both Marshalltown, Iowa where he began to Dallas, Texas, where he would retire as a senior project engineer for large commercial units. Not only did he have a strong work ethic, but Roger enjoyed giving people “crap” and joking around. Roger also loved to fish, hunt, golf, collect coins and travel. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes, Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys fan. Most importantly he will be remembered as a good father, husband, and friend.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Leah (Bob) Low of Des Moines, IA, Eric (Dee Dee) Boike of Ankeny, IA and stepson: Kevin McCormick of Ft. Worth, TX; one brother: Doug Boike of Webster City, IA and grandchildren: Alex Low, Brad Kelmer and Derek Boike.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Miles and Jean Boike as well as his loving wife, Patricia Boike.
