Jason Matthew Choate, 47, of Colo, Iowa formerly of Nevada, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at his mom’s home in Colo. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at the Abels Funeral and Cremation Service, Creps Chapel in Eldora. A funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at the Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church in New Providence. Burial will be held privately at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Jason was born on December 4, 1971 in Waterloo, Iowa to his parents Dale and Sandie Andorf. Dale and Sandie later divorced. Sandy was remarried to Randy Choate. Randy adopted Jason and welcomed him into his family as Jason Choate. Jason graduated from Eldora New Providence High School in the class of 1990. He enlisted into the Army Reserves when he was in high school as a way to serve his country and earn funds for his college education. Jason then went on to earn his degree in agricultural business from Iowa State University. After graduation he began his career at Sansgaard Seed Company in Story City. Jason then worked for Farm Services in Eldora for a few years and then went on to work for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 18 years.

Jason was married to Erika West and they welcomed two sons, Parker and Ty into their family. They later divorced. Jason was a member of Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church in his youth. Jason was an avid golfer and loved to go golfing with his boys, brother Craig and friends. He enjoyed being a member of the Iowa DOT golf league. Jason was an avid Minnesota Vikings and St. Louis Cardinals fan. Jason’s true joy in life came from spending time with his boys, Parker and Ty.

Jason is survived by his parents Sandie Choate and Dale Andorf; his sons Parker and Ty Choate; his brothers John, James & Craig (Chrystal) Choate and Joshua Andorf; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Connie Choate and his Dad Randy Choate.
