Ila L. Hoeppner, 86, a resident of Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021.

Ila was born March 24, 1934 at home in Reinbeck, Iowa to her parents Henry and Irene Ehlers Toben. She was brought up in Reinbeck and graduated from Reinbeck High School. She played basketball at guard position and was a member of the 1952 girls basketball team which won the state tournament that year.

She was united in marriage to Vernon Hoeppner from Dinsdale, Iowa on September 5, 1952. Ila and Vernon were stationed at Camp Atterbury, Indiana after Vernon returned from the war in Korea. They returned to Reinbeck and spent the rest of their lives close to family and friends.

Ila and Hep (Vernon) co-owned and operated on Main street in Reinbeck Hep’s Cafe for several years. She was the bookkeeper, assisted cooking and made all the homemade pies! Years later she was still making pies on request from customers! She was a home healthcare worker for several years and enjoyed taking care of her patients. She loved and collected bears. Traveling was her passion. She loved cooking, baking, ceramics, knitting, crochet, and needlework. Later in life she loved playing mahjong on line!

Ila is survived by her children Vicky (Mike) St. Angelo of Jacksonville Beach, Fl., Scott (Connie) Hoeppner of Reinbeck, Iowa, and Kent (Evelyn) Hoeppner of The Villages, Fl. There are also 3 grandchildren Tony Knaack, Casey (Michele) Knaack, and Moriah Hoeppner. There are also 5 great- grandchildren Madison Knaack, Casey Knaack, Cael Knaack, Anthony Knaack and Mai Knaack. Including many beloved extended family members in the Reinbeck area, Missouri, western Iowa and South Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents and much beloved husband.
