Vivian Smith

July 21, 1932 — September 20, 2004

Vivian A. Smith, 72, of Iowa Falls, died from natural causes on Monday, September 20, 2004 at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 24, 2004 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora with Pastor David Splett and Pastor Tim Booth officiating. Burial will follow at the Eldora City Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 ? 8:00 PM on Thursday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. A memorial fund is being established in her name.



Vivian was born July 21, 1932, in Mason City, daughter of Verne and Helen (Janssen) Awe. She graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1949. She worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone after high school and on March 2, 1958 was united in marriage to Carroll L. Smith at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora. Vivian and Carroll farmed in the Owasa area and Vivian also worked at Riverside Book and Bible in Iowa Falls between 1986 and 1996.



She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was active with the Ladies Aid, and also enjoyed the Owasa Ladies Do Nothing Group, the Ellsworth Hospital?s Silver Stars Exercise Group, and an area couple?s birthday club. She loved attending her grandchildren?s sporting events, and enjoyed camping at Bead?s Lake near Hampton where she was able to camp just a few weeks ago.



She is survived by her husband, Carroll; son, David Smith and his wife, Nicki of Iowa Falls; daughter, Jane Knutson and her husband Kevin of Iowa Falls; and grandchildren, Kandace and Klint Knutson and Trevor and Caleb Smith. She was preceded in death by both parents; a sister, Virginia Brandeland; and brother, Richard Awe.
