V. Roger Newell

Roger (Virgil) Newell was born on November 12, 1943 to J. Stewart and Sylvia Mae Newell in Eldora, Iowa.   Roger attended Wellsburg High School and he graduated with the class of 1962. 

Roger married Joyce Ann in 1966 and lived in rural Kelly, Iowa.  They have two children Ryan and Josie. 

A visitation will be held from 10:00am to 12.00pm on Saturday February 11, 2023 at Abels Funeral Home - Creps Chapel in Eldora, Iowa. Roger will be laid to rest in the Eldora City Cemetery following the visitation.

Roger passed away on February 5, 2023 at the Israel Hospice in Ames, Iowa.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Barbara Smith and brother Irvin Newell.

He is survived by his children Josie and Ryan (DeeAnn) Newell, four granddaughters Dallis Roberts, Kennedy, Marlee and Rachel Newell; and his sister Bonnie (Gary) Henze.

After visitation there will be a short gravesite service. You are invited to gather with us for a luncheon at Dorothy's Wellness, 1306 17th Ave.
