Shelby was born on June 29, 1991, in Waterloo, Iowa to her parents Byron and Patty (Derifield) Beninga. She was raised in Stout and graduated from Dike New Hartford High School in the class of 2010. She then attended Hawkeye Community College. On December 24, 2014, Shelby welcomed her daughter Loni into their family. Shelby later moved to Kansas City, Kansas and lived there with her boyfriend until his passing on April 3, 2024. Shelby then moved back to Stout to be close to her family.
Shelby is survived by her daughter Loni Beninga; her parents Byron and Patty; Grandpa Pat Derifield; brothers Cody and Sloan (Jenna) Beninga; and nephew Winston Beninga. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Benard and Betty Beninga and Evelyn Derifield.
