Sharon Klar

Sharon Sue (Hanson) Klar, 50, of Surprise, AZ, formerly of Grundy Center, passed away on January 14, 2019. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 23, at 10:30 AM at Orchard Hill in Grundy Center with Pastor Chris Henely officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Abels Funeral And Cremation Service Engelkes Chapel is taking care of Sharon and her family. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to the family to be donated to a charity of their choosing at a later date.

Sharon Sue Klar was born on March 27, 1968, in Cedar Falls, IA, to her parents Howard and Ramona Hanson. She attended school in Cedar Falls, graduating with the class of 1986. Sharon attended the La' James International College where she became a licensed hairdresser. She was united in marriage to Kevin Keith Klar on March 10, 2010 in El Central, CA. Both Kevin and Sharon resided in Grundy Center where she cut hair for clients in town and also at the Iowa State Training School For Boys in Eldora.

Sharon was a “health nut” and was always running and lifting weights and enjoyed hiking at many different destinations in Arizona with her brothers. Sharon enjoyed making crafts and jewelry in her spare time. She attended church regularly with her friends and knew the lord well, reading her bible daily. Sharon loved spending time with family and friends, including her and Kevin’s 130lb. Rottweiler “Grizzly”. She will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved her.

Sharon is survived by her husband Kevin Klar of Grundy Center; parents Howard and Ramona Hanson of Parkersburg; children Adam Vanderkolk of Fort Riley, KS, (Active Duty Army), Alana Vanderkolk of Waterloo, and Jessica (Jordan) Bakker of Dike; grandchildren Wilken, Kipton, and Kiyah Jo; brothers David, Tim, Dan, and Paul Hanson. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
