Scott A Foos

Scott A. Foos, 56, of New Hampton, Iowa passed away on March 21, 2026, at his home in New Hampton. A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Abels Funeral and Cremation Service in Grundy Center. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Scott was born on June 4, 1969, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, to his parents Timothy Foos and Carol Thompson nee Reynolds. He was raised in Grundy Center but graduated from Hudson High School in the class of 1989. Scott welcomed his son Codi into his family on July 21, 1993. When Codi was three months old, the pair relocated to the Denison, Iowa Job Corp facilities. He and Codi lived in Wyoming in the late 1990’s and worked in the oil fields and he really enjoyed the environment. Several years later Scott moved back to Grundy County where he found work as a plumber. In 2013 he moved to the Fayette area where he lived until his passing on March 21.

In his youth Scott enjoyed playing baseball and wrestling. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Scott was a former member of the Lincoln Iowa Volunteer Fire Department, and a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center, from which he was both baptized and confirmed.

Scott is survived by his son Codi Foos; grandsons Deacon and Xavier Foos; mother Carol Thompson; brothers Skip (Amy) Foos and Andre (Holly) Allen; sister Jenn Even; nieces Danyelle Foos and Piper Even; nephews Jakob Foos and Vincent Even; and many aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father Timothy Foos; stepfather Bob Thompson; and brother Matt Thompson.
