Sandra J. Evans

Sandra J. Evans, 76, of Moorefield, West Virginia, formerly of Eldora, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Virginia, surrounded by her family. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted with Abels Funeral and Cremation Services.

Sandra was born April 22, 1950, in Eldora, IA, daughter of the late Gene K. and Lorraine Putnam Foster. She operated the Evans Motel for over 50 years. Sandra was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church. Sandra enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and had passions for reading, genealogy, and playing bridge. She advanced family lineages for many and contributed to numerous genealogy publications. Sandra helped organize the South Branch Duplicate Bridge Club. She will be fondly remembered by many. 

Sandra is survived by two sons: Jason (Amanda) Evans of Washington, WV, Justin Evans of Rio, WV; 6 granddaughters: Catherine Evans, Alexandria Evans, Emily Evans, Adalynn Evans, Jerrika Evans, and Olivia Alexander; a brother, Mark Foster (Linda), of Ashland City, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Evans.
