Ross Sharp

Ross Sharp, 87, of Grundy Center , Iowa , died Sunday, September 5, 2008, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center , Iowa . Ross Sharp was born December 3, 1920 on a family farm north of Beaman, Iowa, the son of Robert and Suzie (Hooper) Sharp. He graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1938. He served in the United States Army from January 1946 to July 1947. He was united in marriage to Alberta Copeman on August 20, 1947 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua , Iowa .

The couple farmed near Sauk Center , Minnesota from 1947 to October 1952 when they returned to Iowa and farmed near Lincoln , Iowa . They then moved to their farm south of Union Grove Lake , south of Gladbrook , Iowa . Ross then went to work managing Farm Services in Garwin , Iowa until her retired from that position and farming in 1983 and moved back to Grundy Center in 1987.

Ross was a member of the United Methodist Church of Grundy Center, and the American Legion Post #349 of Grundy Center . Ross enjoyed fishing, coffee club working in his yard and feeding the birds and squirrels. But his most joy came from his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife: Alberta; son: Thomas and his wife Treva Davis of Dousman, Wisconsin; daughter: Ann and husband Les Raisch of Eldora, Iowa; 2 granddaughters: Trisha and her husband Kevin Mullen of Dubuque, Iowa and Tiffany and her husband Scott Ingersoll of Ankeny, Iowa; 2 great grandchildren Madelyn Rose and Joseph Robert Mullen; a sister: Roberta Hoffa of Phoenix, Arizona; 2 sisters – in – law: Yvonne Sharp of Grundy Center, Iowa and Charlene Sharp of Lincoln, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 brothers: George, Martin and Roland.
