Robert "Bob" Haugebak

It is with heavy hearts and sadness that the family of Robert (Bob) Haugebak, 79, of Dike Iowa, announces his peaceful passing at home on Saturday, July 11, 2026. He was born on April 11, 1947, in Ames, Iowa, the son of Marvin Haugebak and Dorothy (Carver).

He grew up in the Cedar Valley, where he developed his love of working on cars. While he was growing up, it wasn’t unusual to see a car hanging from a huge tree in the front yard. He enjoyed working with his dad in many of his ventures, as well as golf outings. He married the love of his life, Jean Charley, on February 5, 1966, in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in business, he pursued a career as a service representative for Volkswagen of America, covering the Midwest. At that time, they moved to Mound, Minnesota, and lived there for 13 years. In 2001, they moved back home to Dike, Iowa. Bob also worked at John Deere, Titus Manufacturing, and Dick Witham. He loved his Corvette and belonged to the Corvette Club. Besides his love of cars, he also enjoyed boating, fishing, golf, and an occasional toddy. He made many memories on the lake in Mound and on the golf course in Dike. He adored his sweetheart, Jean. It was unusual to see one without the other. Toward the end of his life, he was enjoying his new role as a grandfather as well as a great-grandfather.

He will be forever remembered by his daughter, Valerie Jean Haugebak of Hampton, Iowa; two grandchildren, Maggie McArthur (Dana) of Hampton, Iowa, and Charlie Myers of Surprise, Arizona; three great-grandchildren, Karma, Stevie, and Marilyn McArthur; one brother, David Haugebak (Karolyn) of Cedar Falls; one sister, Debi (Gary) of Cedar Falls; Cousin John Ketchen (Deb) of Vinton, Iowa; as well as countless friends, sister/brother in laws and extended family members who knew him.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mike Haugebak. A memorial visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in rural Reinbeck. A Catholic Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 AM, with inurnment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Dike at 1:30 PM.
