Raymond Lee Haupt, 77, of Wellsburg, Iowa, passed away on April 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at First Christian Reformed Church of rural Wellsburg from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Friday, April 10, at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Please join the family after the burial for a fellowship meal.
Ray was born on January 9, 1949, to Oldig and Lillian Haupt. He was the youngest of four children with siblings: Ruth, Melvin and Doris. It became clear at a young age that Ray loved cows and farming. He attended Timothy Christian School and graduated from Wellsburg High School, class of 1967. Ray was a member of First Christian Reformed Church and served on the council. On June 18, 1982, he married the love of his life Cheryl of 40 years and treasured that time spent together. They were blessed with five children: Karla, Todd, Sandy, Kevin and Randy.
He loved to read, whether it was newspapers, farming magazines, devotions or his favorite Bible stories. Ray took joy in watching his children and grandchildren play sports, cheering them on with pride and love. While on a break from chores, he could often be found watching sports or MeTV in the barn office. He was blessed with family and a community of friends, whose support allowed him to continue farming through life’s many changes.
Ray was a pillar of strength and unwavering faith. Every day, he poured love into his family. His work was not seen as a burden, but as a true blessing. His love was steady, quiet, and constant, shown in the sacrifices he made. Throughout his life, he held firm to his faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ. The lessons he taught and the memories created will live on in the hearts of many.
Survivors include his children: Karla (David) Vos of Des Moines, Todd (Jamie) Haupt of Grundy Center, Sandy (Butch) Kuester of Grundy Center, Kevin (Linda) Haupt of Carbondale, IL, and Randy (Katlin) Haupt of Grundy Center, ten grandchildren: Makenly, Layni, Kyla, Ashlyn, Lyndee, Maicy, Hudsyn, Camdyn, Bexley, Maddison, and two great-grandchildren: Holdyn and Dawsyn. He was reunited in Heaven with his parents, wife Cheryl and brother-in-law, Hank Vande Voort.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff for their compassionate care. Also, for everyone who has reached out to the family during this difficult time.
