Ramona D. (Heidt) Frieling, 75, of Grundy Center, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 22, 2004, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital-Long Term Care Unit, in Grundy Center, Iowa, of natural causes. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Monday, December 27, 2004, at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, with Pastor Kent Leydens officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Crest Cemetery in rural Jesup, Iowa. Visitation will be Sunday, December 26, 2004, from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, where the family will be present to greet friends. A memorial fund has been established.

Ramona was born August 26, 1929, in Orange Township, Iowa, the daughter of MeDar Lyndon and Elsie May (McKeen) Heidt. Ramona graduated from high school in Orange, Iowa. On September 7, 1949, Ramona was united in marriage to Ben H. Frieling at the Grace Methodist Church in Waterloo, Iowa. She and Ben farmed northwest of Holland, Iowa, from 1933 to 1961, and then farmed in rural Melbourne until 1974. They then moved to Grundy Center and lived there for thirty years. When Ramona was forty-four she graduated from Bernel?s Hairstyling College in Ames. After graduating, Ramona owned and operated Modern Beauty Shop in Grundy Center for twenty seven years, retiring in 1997. Ramona?s husband Ben died on February 20, 2004.

Ramona was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. She loved to cook, and also enjoyed reading, quilting, and music. Ramona loved her family and especially enjoyed her granddaughter and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Frieling of Rhodes, Iowa; one granddaughter Nicole Bown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one great-grandson Austin Schiltz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one great-granddaughter McKenzie Bown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sisters Mary Hilton of Overgaard, Arizona; Bonnie Cavin and her husband Bill of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and one brother Fred Heidt and his wife Laura of Mount Auburn, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ben, and two brothers Bob and Harry Heidt.
