Dike, Iowa

Nancy A. Woodley, passed away peacefully at her residence on July 19, 2026, leaving a profound void in the hearts of her family and friends. Born on March 9, 1939, in Ames, Iowa, Nancy spent her life as a beacon of love, humor, and unwavering devotion to those around her.

A proud graduate of Ames High School in the Class of 1957, Nancy nourished a love of learning that led her to attend both Iowa State University and the University of Iowa. Her sharp mind and curious spirit would stay with her always—traits she used to their fullest in her professional pursuits and her everyday life.

On November 28, 1959, Nancy was united in marriage to the love of her life, Richard Woodley, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Ames. Their partnership, built on mutual support and laughter, was the bedrock of her happiest memories. Together, they navigated life’s joys and challenges, sharing adventures and building a legacy of love that endures.

Nancy was known for her steady hand in business, doing bookwork for her husband's many businesses for 34 years. She also crafted a meaningful career in banking, ultimately retiring from Iowa Savings Bank in Dike. Her admirable work ethic, attention to detail, and reliability set her apart as a trusted colleague and friend in every role she assumed.

Sports were a true passion for Nancy, matched only by her deep appreciation for gardening, golfing, and traveling the world. Her energetic enthusiasm spilled over into summer days at Cass Lake with her family—moments swathed in sunshine and laughter. Winters found Nancy and Richard in Sun City Center, Florida, creating yet more cherished memories in the warmth and camaraderie of their seasonal community. Faith was an anchor throughout Nancy’s life; her devout Catholicism guided her with strength and serenity, and she found both comfort and purpose within her church family.

Every Thursday morning, Nancy made time for her cherished Coffee Group, never missing a gathering and treasuring those simple yet joyful moments with friends. Her life was defined by devotion to loved ones—most of all her treasured family and her beloved dog Morrie. Welcoming and accepting, Nancy was never one to judge, always offering kindness and open arms to anyone in need. Loyal and caring, and with a hint of mischief and a quick sense of humor, she brightened every room she entered. Her “techy” talents amused those who knew her best, as she embraced each new gadget with the same enthusiasm she brought to life itself.
