Minetta C. Tjepkes

Minetta Tjepkes, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 in Grundy Center. She lived a life filled with love, faith, and joy, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Abels Funeral and Cremation Services, Engelkes Chapel in Grundy Center. A funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2024, at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland, Iowa. Burial will follow the funeral service at the church cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family who will donate them to various charities close to Minetta's heart.

Born on December 20th, 1933, Minetta grew up on the farm and graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1952. She was married to her loving husband Arnold, for 56 years, sharing countless cherished memories together including many rounds of cards played and meals shared with loved ones. Arnold and Minetta resided and farmed on the family farm until they moved to Grundy Center in 2001. She moved to Arlington Place in 2021 where she continued to enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Minetta was known for her loving personality and always having a kind word to say. She lived by her mantra "who has more fun than people". She approached every day with joy and a smile, spreading happiness wherever she went.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and her love for Jesus Christ was evident in everything she did. She was an active member of Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, where she found comfort and strength throughout her life. Her unwavering faith was a source of inspiration to her family and friends.

Minetta had a deep appreciation for beauty, and her favorite color, purple, often was found in her wardrobe, on her nails, or in her home.

Family meant everything to Minetta, and she cherished every moment spent with her children, Curtis (Julie) Tjepkes, Sheila Steinmeyer (Kevin Swalley), Rhonda (Shawn) Samo, Karla (Rob) Weissenfluh, and Del (Wendy) Tjepkes. She also enjoyed lasting memories with her grandchildren, Christina (Tjepkes) Edwards, David and Jason Steinmeyer, Stephanie (Samo) Larson, Chasity (Samo) VanZuuk, Brittany (Samo) Pekarek, Hillary (Samo) Reents, Nicole (Weissenfluh) Richer, Bo Weissenfluh, Abby, Hannah, and Linsey Tjepkes, and step-grandchildren Trent, Thad and Adam Burg. She was also blessed with 25 great-grandchildren.

Minetta was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Reka (Pothast) Itzen; her husband, Arnold; three grandchildren, Anthony, (at birth) Austin, and Whitney Tjepkes; son-in-law Steve Steinmeyer, and her sister, Norma Hook.

Minetta Tjepkes will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and joy, and her memory will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to share in her journey. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and joy that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
