Michael R. Wilkinson

Michael "Mike" R. Wilkinson, 72, of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at UnityPoint Health - Allen Hospital in Waterloo surrounded by loved ones. Cremation rights have been accorded. A celebration of life will take place on September 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Irv Warren Memorial Golf Course, 1000 Fletcher Ave. Waterloo, Iowa. Please wear Vikings apparel to honor Mike's love for the Minnesota Vikings. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family. Abels Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mike was born December 25, 1953, in Iowa Falls, Iowa, to Jerry and Joan Wilkinson. He married his wife of 53 years Debbie Howard on May 19, 1973. Mike served faithfully as assistant Pastor at Maywood Wesleyan Church for 8 years. He also worked and retired from Omega Cabinets. Mike enjoyed roller skating in his younger years and was a diehard fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, and many other sports such as golf and going to hockey games with his son . He also loved his 3 dogs, Harley, Maggie and Misty who were all waiting for him in heaven.

Mike is survived by his wife, Debbie; his son, Cy Wilkinson; his sister Sherie Maynard; his brother Chris Wilkinson, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends including the little girl across the street named Chesney who called him Grandpa.
