Mary Wubben

July 9, 1914 — August 17, 2005

Mary Etta (Moore) Wubben, 91, of Steamboat Rock, Iowa departed her earthly life to enter her heavenly reward on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at USA Healthcare in Urbandale, Iowa where she had resided the last year. Her death resulted from complications of Alzheimer's. Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM on Saturday, August 20, 2005 at the First Baptist Church of Steamboat Rock, of which she was a member for many years, with Pastors Harrison Lippert and Bruce Baillie officiating. Burial will follow in the Steamboat Rock Cemetery. Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Memorials may be directed to her church.



Mary was born at her parents' home in rural Hardin County near Dows, Iowa on July 9, 1914. She was the fourth child of Robert and Delphina (Martin) Moore. She grew up in rural New Providence, Iowa and received her education in the New Providence School, graduating in May of 1934. On September 10, 1934, she married Henry Wubben of Steamboat Rock at the Honey Creek Friends Church. They made their home on their farm east of Steamboat Rock for thirty-two years until retiring from farming and moving into the town of Steamboat Rock. Two sons were born to their union. Robert Kort and Henry LaVerne.



Mary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Anne Wubben of Phoenix, AZ; two grandsons, Brian and his wife Cindy Wubben of Clive and Scott Wubben of Indianola; sisters, Marjorie Bunte of Pine River, MN, and Helen Smith of Waukee; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Harriet Moore of Iowa Falls and Robert and Lois Moore of Green Mountain; great grandchildren, Mason and Payton Wubben of Clive; daughter-in-law, Wanda Wubben of Johnston; and many nieces and nephews.



Mary was preceded in death by her husband Henry (in 1981), her younger son, Henry LaVerne; her parents, four sisters: Anna Marks, Myrtle Cox, Irene (DeBoer) Rash, and Mattie Moore (in infancy).
