Mary Lee Staker, 60, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Thursday, February 16, 2006, at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa. Memorial Graveside Services will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 20, 2006, at the Reinbeck Cemetery in Reinbeck, Iowa, with Pastor Dave Nolte officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Reinbeck United Methodist Church.



Mary Lee was born December 14, 1945, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of John and Helen (Kennedy) Syhlman. She received her education in Dike, graduating from Dike High School in 1962. After high school, Mary Lee began work at Universal Industries in Waterloo, working as a bookkeeper for thirteen years. On April 10, 1976, Mary Lee was united in marriage to Michael Louis Staker in Cedar Falls, Iowa. They made Reinbeck their home, and Mary Lee began doing bookwork for her husband's business in Reinbeck; B & M Tractor Service.

Mary Lee liked to watch television, puzzles, and she enjoyed reading. She was also a good cook. Mary Lee was a wonderful wife and mom. She also enjoyed buying Christmas gifs for others.

She is survived by her husband Michael Staker of Reinbeck, Iowa; one son Micah Staker of Reinbeck, Iowa; two step-daughters Robin Staker of Lamar, Colorado; Rhonda Leonard and her husband Terry of Muscatine, Iowa; one brother John Syhlman and his wife Kathryn of Moravia, Iowa; two sisters-in-law Kay Koch and her husband Don of Reinbeck, Iowa; Arla Beth Folkerts and her husband Dale of Grundy Center, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother Donald Syhlman.
