Marie Last

Marie ?Meme? Last, 97, of Eldora, Iowa, died Saturday, August 27, 2005, at her residence in Eldora, of natural causes. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, August 30, 2005, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora, with Pastor David Splett officiating. Burial will follow at the Eldora City Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, August 29, 2005, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Marie ?Meme? Last was born February 10, 1908, at home on the farm in rural Hubbard, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Ida (Otto) Last. Marie attended rural country school near Hubbard. Marie worked as a nurse?s aide throughout most of her working career at local nursing homes in the area. Marie was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora. She loved to garden. Marie also loved spending time with her family; both immediate and extended. She worked hard all of her life.

She is survived by her daughter DeeAnn Dickenson and Harold Mabe of Eldora, Iowa; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one great-grandson Bryan Dickenson; one brother Alfred Last; and four sisters Esther Mathews; Bernice Marshall; Elizabeth Wood; and Elsie Last.
