Marie Folkerts

Marie Folkerts, 88, of Reinbeck , Iowa , died Saturday, August 9, 2008, at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center , Iowa . Following cremation, Memorial Services will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 16, 2008, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Reinbeck , Iowa , with Pastor Bruce Boyce officiating. Visitation will be Friday, August 15, 2008, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck , Iowa , where the family will be present to greet friends. A memorial fund has been established.

Marie was born on August 24, 1919, in Grundy County , Iowa , the daughter of Menko and Jennie (Kiewiet) Grimmius. On November 23, 1939, she was united in marriage to Walter Carl Folkerts in Grundy Center , Iowa . They always made their home in Reinbeck, where Walt started his own Trucking business.

Marie was a homemaker and a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, flowers and the Iowa Hawkeyes. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Reinbeck.

She is survived by two children: son, Gale Folkerts and his wife Delores of Reinbeck, Iowa; daughter, Jane Mutch and her husband Kenneth of Grundy Center, Iowa; five grandchildren, David (Barbra) Folkerts, Debra (Scott) Wical, Karla (Victor) Dalrymple, Jenny (Brian) Buehler, Cory (Brandy) Mutch; ten great-grandchildren, Kristie Folkerts, Luke Folkerts, Anna Folkerts, Tony Wical, Adam Wical, AJ Wical, Jessie Dalrymple, Jordan Dalrymple, Bryce Dalrymple and Jillian Mutch.


She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walt, five sisters, four brothers, one son, Dennis Dean Folkerts, and two grandsons, Courtland Mutch and Jayson Mutch.
