Margaret Elizabeth (Rose) Luiken, 95, of Steamboat Rock, IA, went to her Heavenly home on the morning of Friday, June 5, 2020. Due to COVID-19, to protect the health and safety of all, services are currently being limited as required by state and local authorities and the CDC.
Public graveside services for Margaret will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at the Steamboat Rock Cemetery located in Steamboat Rock, IA. Pastor Harrison Lippert will be officiating the services for Margaret. There will be no visitation prior to services. Margaret Elizabeth Rose was born on September 26, 1924 in Iowa Falls, IA, the daughter of Marie Eva (Eder) of Mianock, Hungary and Henry Rose of Willendorf, Germany. She graduated from Steamboat Rock High School in 1942 and attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. On January 16, 1946 she was united in marriage to Ernest Russell Luiken at the First Baptist Church in Steamboat Rock. They farmed in this area until 1974. When they retired the couple moved into Steamboat Rock. Margaret accepted the Lord in 1938 and became a member of the Baptist Church. She was active in the Dorcas Society serving as an officer for many years, teaching Sunday School and Bible School. Margaret enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing and her grandchildren.
Left to cherish Margaret’s memory are her son’s: Arnie (Linda) Luiken, Marvin(Sue) Luiken of Steamboat Rock, Ron Luiken of Apache Jct. AZ and two sisters: Kathryn Trupp of Ozark, MO and Ruth Freeman of Eldora, 9 grandchildren, as well as many great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Marie Rose; husband Ernie; daughter-in-law: Luana Luiken; brothers John and Henry M. Rose.
