Lee Michael Lawrence, 29, of rural Eldora, died from injuries sustained in an auto accident on State Highway 3 near Waverly, on Monday, September 27, 2004. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Friday, October 1, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Eldora with Father James Dubbert officiating. Burial will follow at the Hubbard Cemetery in Hubbard, Iowa. Visitation is from 5:00 ? 8:00 PM on Thursday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora with rosary and prayer services beginning at 5:00 PM. A memorial fund is being established in his name.



Lee was born May 13, 1975 in Anamosa, Iowa, son of Clement and Mary "Kay" (Heying) Lawrence. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1993 and in 1995 graduated from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids with an A.S. in Applied Animal Science. While working an internship with Iowa Select Farms in Iowa Falls he met his wife to be, Jennifer Steinfeldt. Lee and Jen were united in marriage on August 24, 1996 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldora and to this union were born, Haley, age seven and Tanner, age four. They made their home in Ackley for three years before moving to rural Eldora. He continued to work for Iowa Select Farms until the time of his death.



He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and also the Hubbard Golf and Recreation Club where he served on the board of directors and regularly golfed in Men's League. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping.



Surviving is his wife, Jen; children, Haley and Tanner; parents, "Kay" and Clement of Monticello; sister, Larissa Lawrence of Prairieburg; brothers, Lance of Ackley, and Larry and Luke of Monticello; maternal grandmother, Geraldine Heying of Elma; mother and father-in-law, Harris and Carole Steinfeldt of Hubbard, and sister-in-law, Kris (Marty) Eide of Hubbard. Preceding him in death was his maternal grandfather, Leander Heying and paternal grandparents, Wesley and Clara Lawrence.
