Bonnie was born on January 14, 1930, in Mason City, Iowa. She was the devoted daughter of Cecil and Myrtle (Cline) Carman. Bonnie was raised in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High School. She then married Delbert Blom and together they welcomed their daughters Pamala and Cheryl into their family. The couple later divorced. Bonnie was then united in marriage to Gary Card on October 23, 1982. They enjoyed many happy years together until his passing in 1989.
Bonnie was a devoted and helpful farm wife. She later began her career at the Grundy County Assessor Office, from where she retired after 21 years of service. In retirement Bonnie stayed busy selling real estate for GNB for many years. She volunteered much of her time to Cedar Valley Hospice and was instrumental in the establishment of Cedar Valley Hospice Chapter in Grundy Center.
Bonnie loved to bake, read and coffee with friends at Manly Drug. She enjoyed quilting and needlepointing and made a variety of items such as napkins and pillowcases. Bonnie sewed all of her daughters’ clothes when they were young, and also did their perms. Her husband Gary instilled in her a love of Iowa Hawkeye Football, and Bonnie never missed a game. However, her true joy in life came from spending time with her family.
Bonnie is survived by her grandchildren Chad Babinat and Kristin Kriegel; great-grandchildren Erica (Austin) Moran, Michelle Babinat, Seth Kudelka, Luke Kriegel, Ashley Kriegel, and Hudson Kriegel; great-great-grandchildren Alivia Moran, Lucy Moran, Asher Moran; stepdaughters Mitzi Claassen and Riki (Tom) Black; and 3 step-grandchildren.
