Kenneth Harold Barz

Kenneth Harold Barz, age 99, of Eldora, Iowa, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ in the early hours of May 9, 2025, in the comfort of his own home. Services will be conducted for Kenneth at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora on Friday, May 16, 2025. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with services starting at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Eldora City Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family. 

Kenneth “Kenny”, son of Max F. Barz and Grace (Pagel) Barz, was born July 2, 1925, near Eldora, Iowa at the Barz Home/Farm. He graduated from Eldora High School and was an honored member of the F.F.A. organization, Pine Lake Chapter. After graduation, he farmed with his Dad as well as for neighbors before serving his country in WWII. During his time in the service, he earned the rank of Tech Sergeant and served as Motor Officer for the 135th Army Engineers in Hokkaido, Japan. After returning home, he continued to farm in the area. On August 14,1949, he was united in marriage to Miss Pauline (Polly) Doss at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Eldora. They shared a single son, Duane Kent Barz, who was born November 1954. The family lived in Eldora until 1960, when Ken operated a 60-cow dairy operation with the help of his son, Duane, who was then five. In 1965, the family moved to Knoxville, Iowa where Ken was the proud owner of his own farm, The Ken Barz Dairy. In his spare time, he completed a course and became certified in diesel mechanics. In his later years, he operated The Bar-z family and poultry farm in Statham, Georgia alongside his son Duane.

Ken and Polly spent 75 loving and devoted years together until her passing in September 2024. They were preceded in death by their son, Duane Kent Barz, in November of 2010.

They are survived by granddaughter Alyssa J. Barz, daughter-in-law Alice H. Barz and loving nieces, nephews, and neighbors.
