John P. Henry, Jr., 65, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital with his wife by his side. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church, 1 Thelma Street in Hudson, Iowa. Burial and luncheon will follow.
John was born on September 20, 1956, in Palmdale, California to his parents John P. Henry, Sr. and Rae S. (Meyer) Henry. He was raised in Palmdale and graduated from Palmdale High School in the class of 1974. Upon graduating he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served his country for 2 years. After his service, John worked for various redi mix concrete companies. He was an owner and operator for Bekin Van Lines. HEM heavy equipment in Grundy Center, where he was lucky enough to travel to India for work. Minnesota Ltd. As a heavy equipment operator, retiring in November of 2019.
John was united in marriage to Barbara Meno on November 20, 1993. They enjoyed 29 wonderful years together. John loved motorcycles, camping, and fishing. However, his true joy in life was spending time with his wife, son, and grandkids. He will be missed and long remembered.
John is survived by his wife of 29 years, Barb; son Logan (Carly) Burbank; step-son Troy (Christal) Bressler; grandchildren Skyler, Huxton, Keaton, Anaka, and Silva; siblings Robin (John) Gage, Joe (Barbara) Andrews, Sue Andrews, Ruth (Jerry) Offer, Teresa Chimbole, Tim (Maria) Henry, Chris Henry, Mark Henry, Mary (Deepak) Nayar, and Paul (Emily) Henry; many nieces and nephews; and Jason McGraw a long-time special friend who was though of as a third son. John was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Aimee Pelsey.
