Jack Ray Schlicht

Jack Ray Schlicht, 76, of Hudson, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2023 at UnityPoint Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

Jack Ray Schlicht was born on August 3, 1947, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Kenneth and Willadean (Rasmussen) Schlicht. He grew up in Hudson, Iowa, and graduated from Hudson High School in 1965.

Jack attended Ellsworth Jr. College in Iowa Falls, and then Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota, where he received his bachelor's degree in elementary education. He taught 4th grade in Minnesota for several years and then worked odd jobs as a carpenter and handyman in Minnesota. He enjoyed making furniture and wooden toys. He had many friends in Mankato and in Iowa. He later moved back to Iowa to care for his father at home.

Jack's passions were cheering for the Minnesota Vikings and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dick, and long-time canine companion, Kato. He is survived by two sisters, Dena (Jerry) Volker of Hudson, and Dawn (Rick) Howerton of Gilbert, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He will be cremated and there will be no funeral service. A Celebration of Life may be held at a later date.
