Homer was born on June 14, 1930 to his parents Joe and Marie (Primus) Ross. He grew up on the family farm in rural Grundy County and graduated from Grundy Center High School.
Homer went on a blind date with Delores Renken, which eventually led to their marriage on July 17, 1952, at the Parkersburg Congregational Church. Both Homer and Delores planted their roots on the farm outside of Conrad. Homer proudly worked his family farm alongside his wife Delores. His farm and family were his life and he worked the farm until his passing. He proudly passes the family farm on to his sons Jim & Bill. Homer was an active member of Alice Church of God alongside his wife and enjoyed tinkering in his shop.
Homer and Delores were blessed with two sons, Jim and Bill. The couple relocated to rural Holland in 1996, building their home together by hand. There they lived together until Delores’ passing in November of last year. Homer was known as a very kind man, who shared that kindness with all, but especially with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He will be missed and long remembered.
