Edris E. Dreesman, 88, of Grundy Center , Iowa , died Sunday, January 11, 2009, at Westbrook Acres Nursing Home in Gladbrook , Iowa . Following cremation, Memorial Services will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 16, 2009, at Lincoln Center Christian Reformed Church, rural Grundy Center , Iowa , with Pastor Dale Janssen officiating. Private family burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center , Iowa . In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.



Edris Elizabeth Dreesman was born April 5, 1920, in Perry , Iowa , the daughter of George and Mary Etta (Caughey) Umbaugh. She married Glenn J. Dreesman on July 4, 1939, at the Ivester Church parsonage. Glenn and Edris lived in Marshalltown , Iowa , for several years but lived in the Grundy County area most of their lives. Edris worked as a janitor at the Lincoln Center Church for fourteen years until they moved to Grundy Center in 1965. She worked part-time in the Sheriff’s office and as a cook at the high school.



Glenn and Edris enjoyed wintering in Texas for sixteen years until Glenn passed away on March 21, 1997. Edris always had a great sense of humor, loved music and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Lincoln Center Christian Reformed Church.



Edris is survived by two sons, Larry Dreesman and his wife Joyce of Grundy Center, Iowa; and Lance Dreesman and his wife Terry of Montezuma, Iowa; six grandchildren, Todd Dreesman and his wife Deb of Roswell, Georgia; Sue Neilson and her husband Archie of Poway, California; Brian Dreesman and his wife Angie of Grinnell, Iowa; Russ Dreesman and his wife Dianne of San Angelo, Texas; Lisa Dreesman of Venice, California; and Curt Dreesman of West Hollywood, California; ten great-grandchildren, Thomas, Madie, and Caroline Dreesman; A.J. Neilson, Nicole Neilson, and Briana Neilson; Ashley Morrison and Calvin Dreesman; and Lauryn and Joshua Dreesman; one brother, Darrell Umbaugh and his wife Gladys of Marshalltown, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Lois Werkman and her husband Jake of Cedar Falls, Iowa; June Dreesman of Grundy Center, Iowa; one brother-in-law, Harm Aalfs of Grundy Center, Iowa; and her dear lifelong friend, Helen Meyer of Holland, Iowa.



She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Vera and Letha; and five brothers, Lyle, Herman, Ernest, Gail, and Ronald Umbaugh.
