Earl Feilmeier

Earl Joseph Feilmeier 75, of Eldora, died of natural causes on Tuesday, December 28, 2004. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Friday, December 31, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldora with Father James Dubbert officiating. Private family graveside burial will be at a later date at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Eldora, Iowa. Visitation is from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora with a rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. A memorial fund is being established in his name.



Earl was born November 8, 1929 in Templeton, Iowa, son of Wendelan and Clara "Willenborg" Feilmeier. He attended barber school in Sioux City, Iowa and graduated with his Master Barber License. On January .21, 1957 he was united in marriage to Jannis M. Hoffmann at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Willey, Iowa. Earl worked at the Eldora Training School for many years where he worked as a Cottage Parent. Earl also worked at the Eldora Barber shop and the Eldora Sale Barn. After retirement Earl was a hobby farmer and enjoyed raising pigs. He also enjoyed gardening large gardens. Earl was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.



Survivors include his wife Jannis; 8 children: Kathy and her husband Wes Eckland of Elk River, Minnesota, Deb Ridout of St. Peter, Minnesota, Earl and his wife Holly Feilmeier of Eldora, Iowa, John Feilmeier of Eldora, Iowa, Clay and his wife Trish Feilmeier of El Paso, Texas, Janet and her husband Robert Amuso of Ozark, Alabama, Jena and her husband Al Droubie of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, and Karla and her husband Keith Trey of Eldora, Iowa, 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; 7 siblings Marie and her husband Ed Lammers of St. Louis, Missouri, Laura Mulbauer of Carroll, Iowa, Rita and her husband Jim Dentlinger of Glidden, Iowa, Alfred and is wife Irene Feilmeier of Westside, Iowa, Leonard and his wife Marsha Feilmeier of Glidden, Iowa, Bernard Fielmeier of Carroll, Iowa, and Jr. and his wife Margie Feilmeier of Carroll, Iowa.



He was preceded in death by his daughter Joleen Feilmeier, parents, a brother Rudy Feilmeier and brother Edwin in infancy and a sister Anna in infancy.
