Dorothy Lois Westerman

Dorothy Lois Westerman, age 92 went to be with the Lord on Monday September 25, 2023. She was born on December 30, 1930 in Grundy Center, Iowa to Onno and Effie (Knock) Klosterboer. A visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:00 am on Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in Holland, Iowa. Funeral service will follow at 11:00am and Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her husband Jasper Westerman at the Rosehill Cemetery in Grundy Center, Iowa.

Dorothy graduated from high school in Grundy Center, worked at Grundy Café and Diamond Bros grocery store, before getting married to Jasper Westerman on January 15, 1952 in Nashua, Iowa. After he got out of the service, Dorothy and Jasper farmed near Dike, Iowa for 10 years, and had four children. They moved to Holland, Iowa, where Dorothy worked at the Holland School with special needs children. She then started babysitting until she retired. Dorothy LOVED to bake and give it away to family and friends. Dorothy loved camping and traveling. She especially enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her great great grandson.

Dorothy is survived by her children; Dennis (Shelley) Westerman of Mystic, Iowa, Janet (Dane) Miller of Parkersburg, Iowa, Carol (Dan) Blythe of Holland, Iowa, six grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. She is preceded in death by husband Jasper Westerman, her infant son Larry, her parents Onno and Effie, her brothers Edward Klosterboer and his spouse, Harlan Klosterboer and his spouse, Vernon Klosterboer and his spouse, and her sister Iva Mae Weckerly.
