Curtis L. Sebekow, 67, of Reinbeck, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Creekside Living in Grundy Center, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Reinbeck, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Reinbeck. Burial will follow at the Reinbeck Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be directed to family, for donation to the Memorial Building in Reinbeck. Curt was born on May 19, 1955, to his parents Edwin and Edna (Aswegan) Sebekow. He graduated from Reinbeck High School in the class of 1974. Curt then enlisted in the United States Navy from 1974 until 1976. He went to boot camp in Orlando, Florida and after boot camp he went to school in Jacksonville, Florida to be an Aviation Storekeeper. His home port was Mayport, Florida. Next, he was stationed on the West Coast, in the Pacific Fleet on the USS Kennedy CV 67, based out of San Diego. He was honorably discharged in 1976 and returned home to Iowa.
Curt worked for John Deere and after more than 30 years of faithful service he retired from the Tractor Assembly division. Curt was a proud member of the Reinbeck American Legion Post #242, where he served in many offices including 11 years as its Commander. His true joy in life came from spending time with his friends and family, especially his great-grandniece Brooklynn and great-grandnephew Zane.
Curt is survived by his brother Craig (Debbie) Sebekow; nieces; nephews; great-grandniece Brooklynn; and great-grandnephew Zane; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Ceila Sebekow.
