Clarence Hess

Clarence Hess, 92, of Eldora , Iowa died from natural causes on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at the Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora , Iowa .

Clarence was born March 4, 1916, in Grundy County , Iowa , son of Robert George and Gladys Ann (Newell) Hess. He spent his entire life in the Grundy and Hardin County area. He graduated from Wellsburg, High School in 1934. On November 26, 1941 he was united in marriage to Lois Ann Benson at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eldora. Clarence worked for R.E.A. for several years installing electric power to rural areas. He then worked for a local farmer before farming on his own for many years. After his retirement from farming he worked at Clapsaddle of Whitten and Whink Products of Eldora.

Surviving is his wife, Lois; children, Joan and husband Larry Harter of Lexington, Ohio, Loretta and husband Shorty Reinertson of Eldora, Mike and wife Joyce Hess of Iowa Falls, John and wife Kathy Hess of Eldora and Angie and husband Jeff Waterhouse of Huntersville, north Carolina, 18 grandchildren 3 step grandchildren 27 great grandchildren 5 step great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, 4 sisters Doris Snyder of Wellsburg, Iowa, Isabelle Venenga of New Hartford, Iowa Helen Huisman of Holland, Iowa and Mildred Basco of Clarksville, Iowa and a brother Lawrence Hess of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Hess, sister, Audrey Gilette, 3 brothers – in - law, and 1 sister – in - law.
