Casey E. Buzzard

Oct 8, 1987 — Sep 25, 2026

Just two weeks before her 39th birthday, Casey Elizabeth Buzzard passed away unexpectedly. The shock of losing someone so vibrant, so full of life, and so deeply loved has left a hole in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Anyone who knew Casey knew she was one of a kind.

Originally from Huntington, Indiana she was a 2006 graduate of Huntington North High School and went on to graduate from International Business College as a medical assistant in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. She later transitioned into elder care for the home-bound. She moved to Iowa in 2021 with the dream of opening her own thrift business to support the needs of area autistic children. Unfortunately, she passed just short of realizing her dream.

She loved thrifting, garage sales, and treasure hunting. Casey had a gift for finding the perfect hidden gem and an incredible eye for style. She could take the latest fashion trend and pair it with the perfect vintage find, creating something uniquely her own. What others overlooked, Casey saw potential in.

She was funny, outspoken, and unapologetically herself. Casey had a fiery personality that could light up a room, and an infectious laugh that was impossible not to join in on. She stood up for what was right, even when it wasn't easy, and she fiercely protected the people she loved, especially her siblings. If you were lucky enough to be part of Casey's circle, you knew you always had someone in your corner.

She also loved making memories. Whether it was a pool day on a hot summer afternoon or heading out for a photoshoot with the kids at the local park or pumpkin patch, Casey knew how to have fun and enjoyed every opportunity to make her children smile. She lived life with passion, humor, and a big heart.

Casey is survived by her parents; Carla (Eric) Neuer and Terry (Mary Beth) Buzzard, seven siblings; Mitchell Buzzard, Mannie Buzzard, Miles Buzzard, Brayden Johnston, Perry (Amelia) Johnston, Janell (Zacheus) Howell, and Nicholas Neuer. Terry would like to make special mention of Casey's step siblings Zach (Mary) Abbott, Travis (Harley) Abbott and Cassie (KC) Zaugg, and Terry's sister Sherry (Tommy) Kistler, all of whom Casey shared a special closeness to. Casey had touched the lives of countless friends across many states, especially Sara Reust, who is like a sister to Casey and an integral part of her family. Extended family includes many relatives that were blessed to share in Casey's life.

However, most importantly Casey leaves behind her two beautiful children, Bryant and Violet. Bryant is 8 years old and has special needs, and Violet is a newborn. While the family is grieving the loss of a daughter, sister, and friend, they are also facing the heartbreaking reality that these two children will grow up without the woman who loved them more than anything in the world.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Casey's GoFundMe page to help care for her surviving children.

Helping create a stable future for the two children Casey loved so deeply. No amount can replace Casey's presence in the lives of those who loved her. But together, we can help ease the burden on her family and provide support for Bryant and Violet as they face a future without their mother.

If you're unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping Casey and her family in your thoughts and prayers. For those who desire, having a Mass said for Casey at your local parish is also a loving way to honor her. Every share, donation, prayer and kind word means more than we can express.

Thank you for helping us honor Casey's life, support her children, and carry forward the love she poured into the people around her every day. There will be no funeral services. A celebration of life will occur at a later date in Huntington, Indiana.
