Bertha Ruth Sandmire was born September 5, 1929, in Wisconsin to Virgil and Nora (Callaway) Sandmire. She graduated from West Lima Wisconsin School. On October 25, 1947, she was united in marriage to Jack Yeomans at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Jack and Bertha owned the Gambles Store in Iowa falls until 1977. Bertha through the years also worked for the Iowa Falls Drive-In Theater, Kep Kepler, The Wagon Wheel and Niarda Jewelry.
Bertha was a member of the First Christian Church in Iowa Falls and after moving to Grundy Center in 2008, attended Orchard Hill Church. She cared tirelessly for Jack until his passing. She was generous with her skills, time and love. She enjoyed watching the family grow, spending time with them, and making some of the greatest quilts and gifts for them. These gifts will be forever cherished by all who received them. Her favorite time of year was Christmas and loved seeing the joy the holiday brought.
Bertha is survived by her daughter: Sue (Ed) Kelly, of New Bern, NC, two sons: Rodney Yeomans of Colorado Springs, CO, and Kenneth (Vicky) Yeomans of Grundy Center; 8 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law Bud (Lonnie) Yeomans of Canyon City, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Jeffrey, a brother Dale, sisters Dorothy Reed and Irene Anderson, and daughter-in-law Judy Yeomans.
