M. Berta von Aswege was born on August 28, 1920 to her parents Hinderk and Gesine (Okken) Bloem in Groswolde (Leer (Ostfriesland)) Germany. She moved to the United States in 1950 and later united in marriage to Joe H. von Aswege on March 30, 1952. They lived south of Parkersburg, Iowa where they farmed until they retired in 1976.
Berta is survived by her son Ewald (Korina) von Aswege of Holland, Iowa; grandson Everett (Karen) von Aswege; great-granddaughter Ariana von Aswege; great-grandson Tyler Van Hoy and great-great-grandson Jace Van Hoy, all of Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
