Verina Folkerts

Verina Folkerts, 91, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Monday, March 3, 2008, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa. Verina was born November 13, 1916, in Grundy Center, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Alvina (Durben) Kopsa. She attended country school in Grundy County. On August 14, 1937, Verina was united in marriage to Adolph William Folkerts at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center, Iowa. After their marriage, Verina and Adolph lived in Morrison, Iowa. They lived there until they moved to Reinbeck. Verina's husband Adolph died on June 30, 1995, and she continued to make Reinbeck her home, and then later moved to Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, where she became very good friends with her special roommate, Lisa Olson.
She was a member of the Queen of Heaven Holy Family Catholic Church in Reinbeck. Verina loved to cook, bake and anything that she could make with her hands. She especially enjoyed cooking for family and spending time with them.
She is survived by three sons- Dale Folkerts and his wife Arla Beth of Grundy Center; Darrell Folkerts and his wife Elaine of Reinbeck; Don Folkerts and his wife Jane of Spring, TX; four daughters- JoAnn Witt and her husband Glen; Janet Brown and her husband Don; Joyce Holman and her husband Lynn; June Heidemann and her husband Dale, all of Reinbeck, Iowa; thirty two grandchildren; sixty three great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters- Helen Koch of Conrad; Marian(Amos) Albright of Grundy Center; Arlene(Irwin) Stumberg of Grundy Center; two sister-in-laws, Diane Kopsa and Marie Folkerts of Grundy Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Adolph; two brothers- Sammy and Donald Kopsa; and a daughter-in-law, Jackie Folkerts.
