Tim A. Matthias, 62, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Friday, December 15, 2006, at Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora while under the care of Amenity Hospice of Cedar Falls. Following cremation memorial services will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, December 19 at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora with Pastor David Splett of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora officiating. There will be no visitation.
Tim was born December 9, 1944 in Waterloo, Iowa, son of Alden and Berdina (Moeller) Matthias. He was raised in Garwin, Iowa where he graduated from Garwin High School in 1964. Tim helped his parents at Garwin Creamery when he was young and then owned and operated Matt's Tap in Garwin for several years in the 1970s. Tim moved to Eldora in 1980 where he worked at the Iowa State Training School for Boys as a cottage parent. Tim was an avid fisherman.
Surviving Tim is his brother, Denny Matthias and his wife Patti of Woodbury, Minnesota; sister, Angela Ervin and her husband Rick of LeGrand, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
