Ruth Clemons

January 31, 1921 — June 27, 2006

Ruth E. Clemons, 85, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at the Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm, Saturday, July 1, 2006 at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora with Pastor Fred Rosenkrans officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Eldora. Visitation is from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday at the funeral home.



Ruth was born January 31, 1921 in Dolliver, Iowa, daughter of Henry and Ruby (McCloud) Hundertmark. She attended school in Whitten and Steamboat Rock and was a member of the Steamboat Rock championship basketball team. On April 24, 1942 Ruth was united in marriage to Woodrow Clemons in Bethany, Missouri. Ruth and her husband lived in Toledo, Iowa for several years where she worked for the Musacatine Button Factory. She then lived in Grundy Center for two years before moving to Eldora where she worked as a cottage parent at the State Training School for Boys for 26 years. She also worked at the Hemp Mill in Grundy Center and as a housekeeper for several people in Eldora. She attended the Assembly of God Church in Eldora, was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, and volunteered at Valley View Nursing Center helping wherever she could. She enjoyed fishing, basketball, softball, shopping, garden and lawn work, and loved to spend time with her grandchildren.



She is survived by daughters, Nancy Wical Hull of Union and Dolores Daleske and her husband, Wayne of Eldora; sisters-in-law, Lola Hundertmark of Benbrook, Texas and Dessie Clemons Hudspith of Eldora; seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and a special friend and neighbor, Arlene Slack. Preceding her in death was her husband, "Woody" in 1969; her parents; brother, Alvin "Bud" Hundertmark; and two infant brothers, William and Edward.
