Rhoda Dankel

Rhoda Mae Dankel, 96, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, formerly of Eldora, Iowa, died at her residence on Tuesday, March 27, 2007. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Eldora United Methodist Church in Eldora with Pastor Richard Boatman officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 am until service time. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm at Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery in Glidden, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to Rhoda's family. Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora is in charge of the arrangements.

Rhoda was born January 21, 1911 in Lanesboro, Iowa, daughter of John and Nellie (Houdeshell) Potts. She was educated in Elk Run Country School near Lanesboro. On July 3, 1929, she was united in marriage to Lyle K. Dankel in Carroll, Iowa. They farmed in this area until moving to the Eldora-Hubbard area in the 1960s. She worked for Dayco Manufacturing for several years in the 60s before retiring due to a disability. She was a member of the Eldora United Methodist Church and enjoyed embroidery, playing cards, flowers, being outside, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving to morn her loss are her children, Deanna (David) Lane of Fort Dodge, Delmer Dankel of Fort Dodge, and Laura Neubauer of Cameron, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lyle on November 7, 1988; daughter, Mary Lou Crouch; son, Jack Dankel; sisters, Ena Heller, Faye Lasher, and Hattie Belle Wickman; brothers, Furdie and Chester Potts and two infant brothers; grandson, Kenneth Dankel; and great grandson CJ Premo.
