Nancy Lebo, 60, of Grundy Center, Iowa, died Friday, May 7, 2010, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at Grundy Center High School Auditorium in Grundy Center, Iowa, with Pastor Beth Olson officiating.Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center.Visitation will be Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, Iowa, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be directed to the family. Nancy Jolene Lebo was born February 10, 1950, in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Jack and Dorothy (Harms) Frerichs. Nancy's father died when she was 4 and her mother passed when she 10 years old, so she was raised by her brother and sister-in-law, Denny and Jackie Frerichs. She graduated from Urbandale High School in 1968. She attended Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, where she met the love of her life, Phil Lebo. Nancy was united in marriage to Philip Lebo on May 30, 1971 in Urbandale, Iowa, and to this union two children, Andrew and Jamie, were born. Nancy's teaching career included Whiting, IA, Meridan - Cleghorn in Marcus, IA, Dumont, IA and Grundy Center, IA. Nancy taught middle-school Language Arts and reading for 39years and retired in 2009. Nancy was scorekeeper for Phil's baseball teams for 25 years and was always in the dugout with the team. She was the announcer for track meets at Grundy Center Schools for more than 20 years. Nancy was a member of The American Lutheran Church and Alpha Omicron PI Sorority. Nancy loved to watch HGTV, American Idol, 24, and enjoyed doing puzzles, especially Sudoku. She loved antiquing and collecting crocks from all over the U.S.A. The seasons of the year were also special as Nancy loved to decorate for them, and was especially fond of the Christmas season. Most of all, Nancy loved spending quality time with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Philip of Grundy Center; her children, Andrew (Ann) Lebo of Grundy Center, Jamie (Kurt) Beyer of Ames; Four grandchildren: Ella, Lucy, and Pete Lebo and Alyse Beyer; her brothers, Denny (Jackie) Frerichs of Urbandale, and Dean (Linda) Frerichs of Ankeny. She was preceded in death by her parents.
