Marlys Marleen Wyatt, 88, of Hudson, Iowa, died Thursday, February 12, 2009, at the Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 P.M. Monday, February 16, 2009, at Queen of Heaven Holy Family Catholic Church in Reinbeck, Iowa, with Father Dennis Quint officiating. Burial will follow in the Reinbeck Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Reinbeck Fire Department or the Hudson Fire Department in Marlys's name. Marlys was born April 10, 1920, in Gladbrook, Iowa, the daughter of Garfield and Elsie (Buck) Mauck. She grew up on a farm north of Reinbeck, graduating from Reinbeck High School in 1937. Marlys attended Cornell College, Iowa State Teachers College and Western State in Gunnison, CO, graduating with a B.A. degree in 1967. In 1940 she married Ed Hanisch. They moved to a ranch near Calhan, Co in 1950. She taught in local schools in Colorado for 20 years. The couple divorced in 1969 and Marlys returned to Iowa. On July 6, 1971 she married Leonard Lewis Wyatt. Leonard and Marlys lived in Cedar Falls prior to moving to Canon City, Colorado. The couple moved back to Hudson in 1983. She is survived by her two sons: Gary and his wife Sheryl Hanisch of Walsenburg, Colorado and Dennis and his wife Christina Hanisch of Stratford, Connecticut; two step sons: Richard Wyatt of Waterloo, Iowa and Allan Wyatt of Waterloo, Iowa; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren and many cherished friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leonard in 2006; two brothers, Elwyn Mauck, and Virtus Mauck.
