Marlene Ziesman

Marlene M. Ziesman, 73, of Eldora, passed away Wednesday, April 29 th , 2009 at the Valley View Nursing & Rehab Center in Eldora. Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 2 nd , 2009 10:30 am the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora. Visitation will be Friday, May 1 st 4 to 8 pm at Creps-Abels Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Interment will take place at the Eldora City Cemetery immediately following the service.






Marlene was born May 10, 1935, the daughter of Marvine & Margaret Petersen in rural Crawford county. She graduated from Schleswig High School and went on to Iowa State University to receive her Bachelor’s degree in 1957. She then moved to Hardin county where Marlene met her husband Walter. They were married June 22, 1958 and born into this union were 6 children. She worked at the Hardin County Extension Home Economist. She retired in May of 2000.





Survivors include children Paulette (Bret) McGreer of Illinois City, IL, Clarette Ziesman of Irving, TX, Wade (Miriam) Ziesman of Fort Worth, TX, Myra (Bob) York of Bella Vista, AR, Brad Ziesman of Baxter, IA & Elaine (Jake) Manship of Eldora, IA; grandchildren Payton Andrews, Afton McGreer (Benjamin Blakely) & Kelsey McGreer, Noah, Miranda, Jenna, Katelyn, Tucker, Sydney, Mason, Merrin & Emma Ziesman, Hunter, Jordyn & Kade Manship, Jesican (Jason) Darr & Taylor York; sister Connie Petersen, brothers Mike (Joan) Petersen; brothers-in-law Ed (Ione) Ziesman and Melvin (Joyce) Nehring; sisters-in-law Laura Lange, Reba Wehrman & Irene Ziesman; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews and special friends.






Marlene was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, member of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, a special lifelong interest of 4-H and volunteered in several church, community boards and organizations. She loved auctions, collecting wallpockets and especially loved spending time with her grandkids. She will be loved and missed by all.






Memorials may be made to the North Iowa Hospice or the Good Shepherd Preschool.
