Marjorie Wilts

Marjorie Wilts, 88, of Steamboat Rock, died Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at her home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2014 at East Friesland Presbyterian Church in rural Ackley. Burial will follow in the Steamboat Rock Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora, Iowa.

Marjorie Bolar was born on September 17, 1926 in Hardin County, Iowa to John and Jessie (Hiserot) Bolar. She received her education and graduated from Steamboat Rock High School . She attended A.I.B. where she played on the basketball team. On October 18, 1945, she married Orville O. Wilts at her parent's home in Eldora. She and her husband were blessed with three sons. Marjorie was a homemaker but also worked on the family farm northeast of Steamboat Rock alongside her loving husband. Marjorie is a member of the Iowa Girls Basketball Hall of Fame. She also volunteered at Amanda the Panda Camp in Des Moines for many years.

She was a lifelong member of the East Friesland Presbyterian Church. Marjorie and Orville were able to work summers after their retirement at Yellowstone National Park at the Old Faithful Inn. Marjorie enjoyed cooking and visiting with her neighbors and friends, but what brought the most joy to her was her church and her family. Orville passed away on January 17, 2014.

Marjorie is survived by her sons, Bruce (Nancy) of Omaha, NE, Keith (Shirley) of LaGrange, KY. And Guy (Deb) of Lakeville, MN; grandchildren, Paul Miller and Traci Miller of Omaha, NE, Amanda (Brian) Webb and Lindsey (Alec) Breen both of Louisville, KY, Josh (Michelle) Berg of Elko, MN. and Nikki (Jason) White of Apple Valley, MN; great grandchildren Rowan Webb, Noah and Stella Berg, Jayelin and Jersey White, Chase, Chelsea and Mikie Wilts. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Merle and Leon Bolar.
