Marion Munsinger

April 11, 1922 — January 24, 2006

Marion L. Munsinger, 83, of Eldora, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora, Iowa. Following cremation, memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 11, 2006 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora with Pastors Corey Larson and Fred Zimmermann officiating. Memorials may be made in Marion's name to the "Dori Theland Campership Fund" in care of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Creps-Abels Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.



He was born April 11, 1922 in Stanhope, Iowa, son of James and Lettie (Scott) Munsinger. He graduated from Stanhope High School then served with the US Army during WWII. On October 16, 1942 he was united in marriage to Maxine Anderson in Boone. Marion worked as a salesman for Wood Auto Company in Eldora for many years until their closing, and then worked for about four years as the Hardin County Auditor.



Marion was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora where he sang in the choir and served as treasure for many years. He was a member of Walter-Sayer Post 182 of the American Legion, Roll-Harless Post 3974 of the VFW, Eldora Kiwanis, and the Eldora Community Theater. Marion served on the Eldora Hospital board for many years, helped with Iowa Community Betterment projects, and also helped with the Easter Seals Campaign. He was an amateur photographer and recorded many area historical events on film.



Surviving Marion are his children, Linda (Kevin) Black of Cypress, California, Arthur "Butch" Munsinger of Eldora, Carol (Fred) Zimmermann of Shawano, Wisconsin, Ann (Virgil) Pixler of Cedar Falls; son-in-law, Doug Theland of Big Fork, Minnesota; sisters, Doris (Lowell) Kilmer of Stanhope and Marie Mourlam of Clarion; and 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his wife, Maxine on December 12, 2005; his parents; daughter, Doris Theland; and brothers, Delbert and Marvin.
