Marie Minteer

Marie Minteer, 98, of Eldora, died on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, Iowa. Private-family graveside services will be held at a later date. Marie was born June 20, 1914 in rural Union, Iowa, daughter of Raleigh and Thursa (McCann) Stanfield. In 1933 she graduated from the Union High School. On April 24, 1933 she was united in marriage to James Wilson Minteer in Macon, Missouri. To this union were born two children Betty and Dale. They farmed and raised their family first on a farm northeast of Union and then on a farm east of Steamboat Rock.
Marie was a member of the Ivester Church of the Brethren, was a world traveler, and enjoyed bowling for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson and son, Dale on January 26, 1973 when they died in an airplane accident. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Albright in 1996; brothers, Clinton, Lester, Merle and Harry; and sister, Mildred Rogers.
Surviving are her grandchildren, David and Lynnette Minteer of Eldora, Kathy and Donn Ferguson of Wasilla, Alaska, Doug and Renee Minteer of Eldora, Donald and Kris Minteer of Cunningham, Tennessee, and Linda and Doug Russell of Conrad; and by 11 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Patricia Magnuson of Eldora, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Lyle and Bonnie Minteer of Union, sister-in-law Esther Stanfield, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.
