Mackenzie L. Blandau 25, of Hampton, formerly of Eldora died as a result of a fire in Hampton, Iowa on Saturday, February 14, 2009. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, February 20 at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora with Pastor Mary Stonebraker officiating. Burial will follow at the Eldora City Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 pm to 7 pm on Thursday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Memorials may be directed to Mackenzie’s family.
Mackenzie Lynae Blandau was born May 16, 1983 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, daughter of Michael and Connie (Koch) Blandau. They lived in Holiday, Florida where Mackenzie attended school through the third grade moving to Eldora the summer of 1994. She graduated from Eldora-New Providence High School with the class of 2002. Mackenzie had been living in Hampton, Iowa the past few years where she was working as a certified day care provider and her greatest joy came from the children she cared for with love.
She is survived by her two year old son, Carlos Dean Blandau; parents, Mike and Connie Blandau of Eldora; brother, Adam Blackstock of Marshalltown; sister, Serena Blackstock of Marshalltown; paternal Grandmother, Hazel Nordyke of Eldora; and maternal grandfather, Duane Koch of Eldora. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfathers, Ronald Blandau and Duke Nordyke; maternal grandmother, Lorraine Koch; and cousins, Tanner Ackerson and Derrick Sanders.
