Louise Hagen

August 24, 1925 — March 10, 2008

Louise A. Hagen, 82, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Monday, March 10, 2008 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 15 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora with Pastor David Splett officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Eldora. Visitation is from 5 pm to 8 pm on Friday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Memorials for Louise may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church and they will be sent to Concordia University in Seward and Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca.



Louise was born August 24, 1925 in Carbon, Iowa, daughter of Cleveland Henry "C.H." and Louise Anna (Wendt) Johannes. She graduated from Corning High School in 1942 then continued her education at Concordia Teachers College in Seward, NE receiving a teaching certificate in 1945. On July 20 1952 Louise was united in marriage to Marvin O. Hagen at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waverly, Iowa. While in Waverly she taught in a one room school for seven years, substituted for 2 years at St. Paul Lutheran Artesian, and served as superintendent for elementary Sunday school at St. Paul Artesian. Louise also taught Sunday school at St. Johns Lutheran Church in State Center, Iowa for 10 months before moving to Eldora in 1955.



Louise was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora from 1955 until present serving as their director of education since 1982. She also stay very involved as teacher for high school and youth classes, youth choir director, vacation Bible school director and teacher, and confirmation teacher. Louise was also involved with the church's Ladies Aid (LWML) and their circles; served as secretary, treasurer, and on the Christian Life Committee of Iowa District East; and helped with fundraisers for Lutheran Family Service Auxiliary serving as secretary & president.



She is survived by her devoted husband, Marvin; son, M. Allen (Stephanie) Hagen of Puyallup, Washington; granddaughters, Rachel (Scott) Morton and Rebekah and Sarah Hagen; great-granddaughter, Gracie Morton; and sister, Fredericka "Fritzie" Nelson. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Clara Loesch.
