Lois Mann, 85, of Eldora, Iowa, died Thursday, May 29, 2008, at the Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be 6:00 P.M., Sunday, June 1, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Eldora, Iowa, with Pastor John Scheel and Pastor Paul Mann officiating. Burial will follow at the Eldora City Cemetery in Eldora. Visitation will be Saturday, May 31, 2008, from

5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church.

Lois was born July 28, 1922, in Warsaw, Illinois, the daughter of Cecil and Clara (Linkemann) Jingst. Lois received her education in Warsaw and graduated from Warsaw High School. She then furthered her education at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois, graduating in 1944. After graduation from college, Lois served as a church secretary and youth worker at Calvary Baptist Church in Quincy, Illinois. In November 1958, she came to Eldora to serve First Baptist Church as the secretary and Christian Education Director. On October 6, 1962, Lois was united in marriage to Jesse Mann at First Baptist Church in Eldora. Her husband Jesse died on December 19, 2005, and she continued to make Eldora her home, until she moved to Millpond Retirement Center in Ankeny in 2007. Lois was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Eldora, where she had taught Sunday school for many years as well as vacation bible school. Lois shared her gift of hospitality with others. She loved to entertain and make everyone feel welcome.

She is survived by son, Paul (Imogene) Mann of Roswell, Georgia; daughter, Darlene (David) Whims of Ankeny, Iowa; son, Daryl (Sharon) of Maysville, Missouri; daughter, Sara (Pastor Steve) Demoret of Scotts Bluff, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Gale Mann Bauer of Mt. Vernon, Washington;

Twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Pauline Kimble of Jerseyville, Illinois; two brothers, Alvin (Ruth) Jingst of Norwalk, Iowa; and Truman (Esther) Jingst of Sebring, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jesse in 2005; one son, Jess Allen in 1990; one sister, Elsie Vancil; one brother, Lester Jingst; and two brothers-in-law, Larry Vancil and John Kimble.
