Leon Speck

July 5, 1958 — March 16, 2006

Leon E. Speck, 47, of Eldora, Iowa, formerly of Tekamah, Nebraska, died Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Ellsworth Memorial Hospital in Iowa Falls, Iowa, while under the care of North Iowa Hospice. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora with Pastor David Splett officiating. Graveside services will then follow at 4:00 pm at Tekamah Cemetery in Tekamah, Nebraska with Pastor Jane Boeschen of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah officiating. Visitation is from 2 pm to 8 pm on Monday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora with Leon's family present to greet friends from 5 pm to 8 pm. Memorials may be directed to Leon's family.



Born to Donald and Jean (Rapp) Speck of Tekamah, Nebraska on July 5, 1958, Leon brought a smile and a good time to his friends, family, teachers and community. He graduated from Tekamah-Herman High School in 1976. On September 1, 1979, he married the love of his life, Vicki Cass, also of Tekamah. They spent 26 A� years together, which included a move to Eldora, Iowa. They resided there for more than 23 years. Leon and Vicki were blessed with two children, Ben and Lora, who both still reside in Eldora. His work with the former Garst Seed Company brought him together with many people throughout the Great Plains. He genuinely valued all of his friends and family. Leon was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora, Coyote Run Sporting Clays, and the South Hardin Recreation Area.



He is survived by his wife, Vicki; son, Ben of Eldora; daughter, Lora of Eldora; his parents, Donald and Jean of Tekamah; sister, Leta (Helmut)Liesch of Kimball, Nebraska and Judy (Clark) Meyer of Allen, Texas; mother-in-law, Elaine Cass; sister-in-law, Sue (Ted) Connealy; brothers-in-law, Steve (Robyn) Cass and Joe Cass; and nieces and nephews, Luke and Sara Connealy and Matt Cass. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Mildred Rapp; paternal grandparents, Gordon and Florance Speck; and father-in-law, Richard Cass.
