Leland Heinrich

Leland "Lee" Heinrich, 74, of Wellsburg, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at his home while under Care Initiatives Hospice. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 17th, 10:30 A.M. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church in Wellsburg with Pastor Bruce Zimmermann officiating. Visitation will held on Monday, April 16th from 5 to 8 P.M. at the church. Burial will follow funeral services at the church cemetery.
Lee was born on December 7, 1937 in Wellsburg, the son of Johannes & Lena (Ruter) Heinrich. He attended school in Wellsburg, graduating from Wellsburg High School in 1957. On June 5, 1959, Lee was united in marriage to Bernice E. Meester at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church in Holland, IA. The couple welcomed two children Rob & Shelley. Lee co-owned and operated a John Deere Dealership, H & H Implement Company in Wellsburg for 30 years, retiring in 1994.

Lee was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church, served on the consistory board as a former Deacon, served on the Wellsburg Fire Department for over 20 years, was a member of the Wellsburg Community Club, was on the Wellsburg Betterment Committee, member of Jolly Boys, lifelong member of the Pine Lake Wildlife Club, member of the John Deere collectors club, member of the Cyclone Country Rambler Camping Club and enjoyed participating in local antique tractor rides on his John Deere B. Lee won the chance to hit the first golf ball at the Meadowbrook Golf course in May of 1963. He enjoyed snowmobiling trips to Brainard, MN with his family, many fishing trips over the years to Canada with friends and was an avid Nascar fan. Lee and Bernice spent the last 17 years wintering in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

He is survived by his wife Bernice of Wellsburg; children Robert (Kim ) Heinrich and Shelley (Dale) Eilderts of Wellsburg and his 4 grandchildren Brad & Kara Heinrich and Zach and Mason Eilderts, all of Wellsburg; sister-in-law Lavonne Eckhoff. Lee was preceded in death by his parents.
